Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Bantul Regency Government, Special Region\nof Yogyakarta (DIY), is optimistic that the completion of the\nconstruction of the Southern Cross Road (JJLS) section from Kretek to\nGirijati, or \u2018Kelok 23\u2019, will enhance the tourism sector in the\nregion.<\/p>\n
The Regent of Bantul, Abdul Halim Muslih, stated in Bantul on Tuesday\nthat trial runs for Kelok 23 have been conducted, and the route is\nlikely to reopen once additional construction is completed and\nofficially inaugurated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe results of this trial process have been quite stable, and people\nlike it because of the beautiful views,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, Kelok 23 serves as a major attraction for tourists\nwhile simultaneously creating opportunities for investors to enter\nBantul and participate in developing the tourism sector.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are many [investors], but we know that our southern area is\nSultan Ground. Therefore, permission must be obtained from the\nYogyakarta Palace,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
He mentioned that while technical permits for investment lie within\nthe Bantul Regency, principle permits must be obtained from the\nYogyakarta Palace.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegarding investment, the technical permits are handled by the\nregency. However, the principle permit must be obtained from the\nYogyakarta Palace,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Halim also emphasised that the presence of Kelok 23 is a vital\ncomponent in the economic development of southern DIY, particularly as a\nvehicle access route.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt must certainly be accessible to all vehicles, especially\nfour-wheeled vehicles,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He urged both operators and drivers to prioritise safety once Kelok\n23 reopens and resumes operations by adhering to warnings and traffic\nsigns.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, at the Kretek intersection, there are no traffic lights\nyet, which is dangerous. That remains a task for us to address,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Bantul Regency, Agus Budi Raharja,\nadded that the overall construction of Kelok 23 is expected to be\ncompleted within the next year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Kelok 23 project is still quite extensive. It will take another\nyear before it is fully finished,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
However, he remains optimistic that the presence of Kelok 23 will\nincrease tourist visits, an opportunity that must be seized to improve\nthe local community\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cKelok 23 is indeed exotic, serene, and romantic. There are certain\npoints, especially at the rest area, that are quite attractive,\u201d he\nremarked.<\/p>\n
According to him, the area could be utilised to organise MSME (Micro,\nSmall, and Medium Enterprises) players to sell their products there, in\naccordance with regulations to be determined alongside the DIY\nProvincial Government.<\/p>\n
