Pandeglang, Banten \u2014 The Banten Provincial Government is maximising\nservices through the provision of hundreds of food portions from the\nSocial Services\u2019 community kitchens, which have been operational for 10\ndays during the search for a group of journalists and the crew of the\nfast boat KM Arupadhatu 1, who lost contact in the Sunda Strait.<\/p>\n
Lukman, Head of the Banten Provincial Social Services, speaking at\nthe Joint SAR Main Post in Carita Beach, Pandeglang, on Thursday, stated\nthat following direct instructions from the Governor of Banten, the\nprovision of food from the community kitchens has been fully deployed\nsince the first days of the SAR operation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe community kitchen service continues to be deployed to the\nmaximum extent to support the operational movements of the Basarnas\nteam, all joint personnel, and the families of the survivors,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Utilising modified trucks, the community kitchen produces more than\n450 portions per day, exceeding the formal allocation of 350 portions\nper day intended for three meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.<\/p>\n
According to Lukman, this increase in food portions was implemented\nto ensure that the logistical needs of SAR officers, journalists\ncovering the event, victims\u2019 families, and local residents active around\nthe Main SAR Post are fully met.<\/p>\n
The operation of the community kitchen is driven by approximately 30\ntrained volunteers, comprising personnel from the Banten Social\nServices, the Ministry of Social Affairs\u2019 Disaster Preparedness\nVolunteers (Tagana), Disaster Preparedness Villages (KSB), and women\nfrom the Carita, Labuan, and Jiput districts.<\/p>\n
Salted fish and shrimp paste sambal have become favourites in the\nsocial services\u2019 kitchen, as they are considered delicious and a\nsuitable accompaniment to any main dish cooked by the volunteers.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf logistics run low, we replenish them from stocks in the social\nservices warehouse or through assistance from other parties; for\ninstance, today we received supplies from Bank Banten\u2019s CSR programme,\u201d\nhe added.<\/p>\n
He noted that the community kitchen services remain ready to support\nthe efforts until the SAR operation concludes or is potentially\nextended.<\/p>\n
The search area for the group of journalists and the crew of KM\nArupadhatu 1, who lost contact in the Sunda Strait, has expanded on the\n10th day (Thursday) to cover 8,509 nautical miles (NM) squared, compared\nto 3,439 NM squared on the ninth day.<\/p>\n
The eight individuals being searched for include five journalists\u2014M\nBagus Khoirunnas (ANTARA News Agency), Ari Basuki (Merdeka.com),\nYudhistiro (iNews), Firdaus (Anadolu), and Donal (freelance\njournalist)\u2014alongside three others: Warta (captain), Surakman (crew\nmember), and Heriyanto (guide).<\/p>\n
The SAR operation involves a total of 523 joint SAR personnel.<\/p>\n
According to the operational plan map from Basarnas, the search area\nfor the group has expanded significantly to 8,509 NM squared, covering\n10 sweeping sectors, compared to 3,439 NM squared across six sectors the\nprevious day.<\/p>\n
