        "content": "<p>Banten Governor Andra Soni has signed a memorandum of understanding\n(MoU) with Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers\n(P2MI) Mukhtarudin to strengthen protection and competence for migrant\nworkers from Banten.<\/p>\n<p>The signing, which took place at the P2MI Ministry building on\nThursday (18\/6), represents a strategic effort to build an integrated\nmigrant worker ecosystem. In addition to the Banten Provincial\nGovernment, the P2MI Ministry also established cooperation with PT\nKrakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk and the Alumni Association of Sultan Ageng\nTirtayasa University (IKA Untirta).<\/p>\n<p>Andra Soni, in a statement in Serang on Friday, said the cooperation\nis an important step to open wider job opportunities while ensuring\nprospective migrant workers receive adequate training before departing\nabroad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis MoU is an effort to improve community welfare and open\nopportunities for our citizens to develop and work abroad while still\nreceiving protection from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Banten has great potential as a source region for\nmigrant workers, so this central government initiation programme must be\nseriously supported by the region. He expressed enthusiasm and readiness\nto implement the programme optimally.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, P2MI Minister Mukhtarudin explained that the collaboration\ninvolving the central government, regional government, universities, and\nthe industrial sector is a form of synergy for protecting migrant\nworkers from upstream to downstream. The prepared programme includes\ntraining, capacity building, and professional workforce placement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn accordance with President Prabowo\u2019s directives, we are\nstrengthening protection as well as capacity building for migrant\nworkers to enter the global labour market, particularly as skilled\nworkers in the formal sector,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Strong support was also conveyed by the General Chair of the Central\nBoard of IKA Untirta, Lamhot Sinaga, who affirmed the readiness of the\nacademic community and Untirta alumni network to contribute their\neducational resources to foster the competence of prospective\nworkers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe essence of this programme is to build a complete migrant worker\necosystem. We are ready to contribute so that Indonesian migrant workers\ndepart with good competence and strong protection,\u201d said Lamhot.<\/p>\n<p>On the industrial side, President Director of PT Krakatau Steel Akbar\nDjohan committed to facilitating technical skills training. Through\nthese facilities, he hopes Indonesian migrant workers can depart with\nhigh confidence and be able to compete professionally on the global\nstage.<\/p>",
