        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Bantaragung Hanging Bridge in Sokawati\nVillage, Ampelgading District, Pemalang Regency, is back in operation\nafter being severed by flash floods in January 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has completed the rehabilitation of\nthe bridge to restore connectivity for residents that was previously\ndisrupted.<\/p>\n<p>Following instructions from Minister of PU Dody Hanggodo, the Central\nJava-DIY Yogyakarta Major National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN)\nimmediately coordinated with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI)\nand the Pemalang Regency Government to accelerate the rehabilitation\nprocess.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have instructed my agency head to immediately carry out the\nrehabilitation of the bridge in Pemalang Regency. Isolated villages must\nbe reconnected as soon as possible. Alhamdulillah, through cooperation\nbetween the Ministry of PU, TNI, local government, and all community\nelements, it is now reconnected,\u201d said Dody, quoted from an official\nstatement on Friday (03\/04\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe construction of this bridge is a follow-up to the President\u2019s\ndirective to the Ministry of PU, TNI, and local government to assist\ncommunities in affected areas,\u201d said Achiruddin.<\/p>\n<p>Head of BBPJN Central Java-DIY Yogyakarta, Moch. Iqbal Tamher,\nexplained that the bridge construction resulted from collaboration\nbetween the Ministry of PU, TNI through Kodam IV Diponegoro, and the\nPemalang Regency Government.<\/p>\n<p>The Bantaragung Hanging Bridge has a total length of 162 metres,\nconsisting of a main span of 67 metres and approach roads of 95 metres.\nReconstruction took place from late January to mid-February 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The bridge connects Dukuh Bantaragung and Dukuh Kalilanang in\nSokawati Village, which has long served as the primary access for\nresidents\u2019 mobility.<\/p>\n<p>With the bridge now operational again, community activities are\nproceeding more smoothly, safely, and comfortably.<\/p>\n<p>Management and maintenance of the bridge have been handed over to the\nPemalang Regency Government to ensure the sustainability of the\ninfrastructure\u2019s function.<\/p>\n<p>With access restored, the bridge is expected to further strengthen\nregional connectivity and encourage the resumption of social and\neconomic activities in Pemalang Regency and surrounding areas.<\/p>",
