A member of Banser (Barisan Ansor Serbaguna), the semi-autonomous\nparamilitary wing of the Youth Movement Ansor, declared that seven\nmillion cadres would mobilise if former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut\nCholil Qoumas were criminalised through a suspected corruption case\ninvolving additional hajj quotas.<\/p>\n
The statement was made as Banser descended upon KPK headquarters on\nThursday 12 March afternoon, where Yaqut was undergoing examination as a\nsuspect. Yaqut serves as an advisor to Banser.<\/p>\n
\u201cSeven million cadres are ready to mobilise if Gus Yaqut is\ncriminalised by tyrannical elites,\u201d said a Banser member from a command\nvehicle in the grounds of the KPK\u2019s Red and White Building in Jakarta on\nThursday 12 March afternoon.<\/p>\n
They demanded that Yaqut be released after today\u2019s examination. They\nbelieve Yaqut did not gain even a single rupiah from the additional hajj\nquota that Indonesia obtained for the 2024 pilgrimage season.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf Gus Yaqut is criminalised, our blood will boil!\u201d he\nexclaimed.<\/p>\n
They began arriving at the Red and White Building at approximately\n16:39 WIB. They arrived in a convoy of motorcycles, cars, and more than\nfive buses heading towards the KPK office.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are here only to demand justice. Today we show that Ansor Banser\nhas a spirit of solidarity!\u201d cried another orator from the command\nvehicle.<\/p>\n
In their action, they also removed iron wiring that had been\ndeliberately installed. They also reminded police officers not to\nobstruct the action.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have never caused trouble, but if anyone stands in our way, we\nwill be forced to remove them. We work together with the authorities,\u201d\nhe insisted.<\/p>\n
