        "content": "<p>Former Religion Minister (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) was\nformally detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) after\nbeing designated as a suspect in a hajj quota corruption case. Following\nYaqut\u2019s detention, Banser supporters who had gathered in front of the\nKPK chanted that the KPK was tyrannical and burned shirts bearing the\nKPK logo.<\/p>\n<p>Monitoring on site by detikcom on Thursday, 12 March 2026, showed\nthat Banser supporters began shouting \u201cKPK is tyrannical\u201d as Yaqut was\nescorted to the detention vehicle whilst wearing an orange jumpsuit. The\nBanser supporters also moved closer to the KPK fence to observe Yaqut\u2019s\ncondition directly.<\/p>\n<p>After Yaqut entered the detention vehicle, Banser supporters\ncontinued shouting and proceeded to burn a shirt bearing the KPK logo.\nThe Banser supporters also shook and rattled the KPK fence in an attempt\nto breach the perimeter. However, the Banser supporters who were\nreacting were eventually calmed by other Banser supporters. Police\nofficers also helped to maintain order and control the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>It is known that the KPK ultimately detained former Religion Minister\nYaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) in connection with the hajj quota corruption\ncase. Yaqut was detained following his designation as a suspect in\nJanuary 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Yaqut descended from the second floor of the examination room at\n18:45 Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Thursday, 12 March 2026. Yaqut\nwas already wearing an orange jumpsuit with both hands shackled.<\/p>\n<p>Yaqut appeared today to respond to the KPK\u2019s examination summons.\nYaqut arrived at 13:05 WIB accompanied by his legal advisory team.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, Yaqut previously challenged the KPK\u2019s suspect\ndesignation through a pre-trial motion to the court. However, Yaqut\u2019s\npre-trial motion was rejected by the judge.<\/p>\n<p>The judge stated that the KPK\u2019s designation of Yaqut as a suspect\nalready complied with proper procedure and applicable regulations.
