        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (BMRI) is strengthening its\nrole in supporting a sustainable economy through the launch of the\nGreenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Certificate (SPE-GRK) feature for the\nretail segment on the Livin\u2019 Planet platform in the Livin\u2019 by Mandiri\napp.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Director Henry Panjaitan of Bank Mandiri, during the launch of\nthe \u201cAku Net-Zero Hero\u201d campaign at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI)\nin Jakarta on Wednesday, stated that this initiative is the result of\nthe company\u2019s collaboration with IDXCarbon, marking a new step in\nopening access to the carbon market through the bank\u2019s digital\nservices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough this feature, we aim to encourage active participation from\ncustomers in climate action. Beyond raising awareness of the carbon\nfootprint generated from daily activities, we also urge customers to\ntake part in offsetting it through credible and verified carbon offset\nmechanisms,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Henry explained that the launch of this feature is part of the latest\ndevelopment of Livin\u2019 Planet, introducing new capabilities beyond the\nprevious features.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis innovation reflects the company\u2019s commitment to providing\nincreasingly relevant, easily accessible, and impactful sustainability\nsolutions for customers,\u201d Henry stated.<\/p>\n<p>In its implementation, Henry explained that carbon offsetting is\ncarried out by supporting emission reduction or absorption activities,\neither through nature-based solutions such as tree planting or\ntechnology-based solutions like renewable energy development and energy\nefficiency projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeanwhile, carbon credits represent a reduction or absorption of\nemissions equivalent to 1 tonne of CO2 that can be traded as an\ninstrument in that mechanism,\u201d Henry said.<\/p>\n<p>Through Livin\u2019 Planet, Henry explained that customers can calculate\ntheir emission footprint using a carbon calculator and perform offsets\nby directly purchasing SPE-GRK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis feature is also equipped with educational content to enhance\npublic understanding of carbon emissions and encourage behavioural\nchanges towards a low-carbon lifestyle,\u201d Henry added.<\/p>",
