Bank Bira profits up 68%<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The publicly-listed Bank Bira reported yesterday
\na 68-percent increase in its net profits to Rp 30.3 billion
\n(US$13 million) last year.<\/p>\n
The bank's net interest income, including credit-based fees
\nand commissions, rose by 69 percent to Rp 92 billion with a net
\ninterest margin of 5.7 percent, compared to 6.2 percent in 1994.<\/p>\n
The bank said that as of Dec. 31, 1995, it's total loans had
\nreached Rp 1.4 trillion, an increase of 58 percent over the
\nprevious year, while its total deposits increased by 52 percent
\nto Rp 870.9 billion.<\/p>\n
Bank Bira's total assets were recorded at Rp 1.6 trillion as
\nof the end of last year, according to its audited financial
\nreport for 1995.<\/p>\n
The bank said that it had a capital adequacy ratio of 10.2
\npercent and a loan-to-deposit ratio of 97.8 percent.<\/p>\n
The central bank, Bank Indonesia, requires commercial banks to
\nhave a minimum capital adequacy ratio of 8 percent and a maximum
\nloan to deposit ratio of 110 percent. (08)<\/p>",
