I would like to comment on the advertisement published in
\nKompas, Dec. 17, 1996 concerning the Banjar Wijaya housing
\ncomplex. In fact, I am one of hundreds of consumers who bought
\nhouses in that complex after reading an advertisement in Kompas
\nin 1992. In reality, however, the complex is far from being
\nconvenient.<\/p>\n
For example, the ad said the houses in the complex were of the
\nbest quality. But the ceramic tiles covering the floor of my
\nhouse have become bowed. How could they boast of the highest
\nquality?<\/p>\n
They also predicted that the price of the house would double
\nafter some years, or the increase could reach up to 40 percent
\nper annum. Should I wish to sell my house to the developer, would
\nthey be willing to buy it at the price they had predicted, or
\neven at an increase of less than 40 percent a year?<\/p>\n
Also, concerning distances from major shopping centers, the
\ndeveloper said it would take 20 minutes to get to Puri Indah Mall
\nand only 10 minutes to Lippo Karawaci Mall. My experience has
\nproven that this is impossible. Furthermore, public and social
\nfacilities are also unsatisfactory. The household waste is
\ndrained into an empty field next to the complex. Unfortunately,
\nthe dumping ground is now being filled up by another developer,
\nwhich causes floods to some houses in the housing complex
\nwhenever it rains.<\/p>\n
When will the developer keep their promise?<\/p>\n
