        "content": "<p>Bangladesh offers tax break to RI investors<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Visiting Bangladeshi Minister of Textile <br>\nIndustries Abdul Mannan pledged here yesterday to offer a 12-year <br>\ntax holiday to Indonesian investors who establish industrial <br>\nprojects in his country.<\/p>\n<p>After paying a courtesy call on President Soeharto at Merdeka <br>\nPalace, Mannan told reporters that the Bangladeshi government is <br>\noffering the tax break so that Indonesia will relocate its <br>\ntextile plants and invest in various sectors in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia, which has comparative advantages in its textile <br>\nindustry, will have a better chance of establishing textile <br>\nplants in Bangladesh than in other developing countries, Mannan <br>\nstressed.<\/p>\n<p>Mannan, who was leading a Bangladeshi trade mission to <br>\nIndonesia, ended his four-day visit yesterday. Earlier he met <br>\nwith Coordinating Minister for Industry and Trade Hartarto and <br>\nState Minister of Investment\/Chairman of the Investment <br>\nCoordinating Board Sanyoto Sastrowardoyo.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are inviting Indonesian companies to run businesses in <br>\nBangladesh,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said Soeharto promised to promote Indonesian investment in <br>\nBangladesh and encourage cooperation in the production of textile <br>\nmachinery and products.<\/p>\n<p>Mannan said the President reacted with great interest to the <br>\ninvitation written by Bangladeshi Prime Minister Begum Khaleda <br>\nZia to promote economic cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>He said the prime minister also invited the President and <br>\nfirst lady Tien Soeharto to visit Bangladesh this year.<\/p>\n<p>Suara Pembaruan daily reported yesterday that Bangladesh has <br>\nshown interest in investing in the carpet industry here.<\/p>\n<p>The newspaper quoted Soesanto Sahardjo, an advisor to the <br>\nminister of industry, as saying that his ministry will support <br>\nBangladeshi investment, considering that raw materials for the <br>\ncarpet industry are readily available in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The carpet industry will use jute as its raw material.<\/p>\n<p>Both countries are committed to sending officials to each <br>\nother's capitals in the future to follow through on plans to <br>\nimprove trade and investment cooperation.
