        "content": "<p>State electricity company PT PLN (Persero) through its Dwipantara\nGeneration Unit has added 25 megawatts (MW) of generating capacity to\nstrengthen the reliability of the power system on Bangka Island. The\nadditional capacity increases the system\u2019s power reserve amid growing\nelectricity demand in the region.<\/p>\n<p>General Manager of PLN UIK Dwipantara Rita Triani said the additional\ngenerating capacity consists of 15 MW in Air Anyir and 10 MW in\nMerawang, Bangka Regency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe presence of this additional generating capacity is expected to\nstrengthen the operating reserve of the Bangka electricity system,\u201d Rita\nsaid in a written statement on Monday (6\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Rita said the additional plants will enhance PLN\u2019s ability to\nanticipate growth in electricity demand while maintaining supply\nreliability for customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSufficient and reliable electricity is a crucial foundation for\neconomic growth and improving public welfare. Therefore, PLN UIK\nDwipantara continues to strengthen the generation system to meet the\ngrowing energy needs in Bangka,\u201d Rita stated.<\/p>\n<p>With the additional plants, the Bangka power system now has a supply\ncapability of approximately 340 MW. This supply comes from power plants\nin Bangka totalling 240 MW and electricity transferred from the Sumatra\nsystem via submarine cable amounting to 100 MW.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the peak load of the Bangka electricity system currently\nreaches around 240 MW. Under these conditions, a power reserve of\napproximately 100 MW is available to maintain supply reliability.<\/p>\n<p>Rita said the additional generating capacity is expected to support\nadequate electricity supply while bolstering economic activity in\nBangka.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope that the additional generating capacity we manage can play\nan important role in maintaining electricity adequacy in Bangka, while\nsupporting the increasing demand for electricity which will certainly\naccelerate regional economic growth,\u201d Rita said.<\/p>",
