The Bandung Trade and Industry Office reports that prices of essential goods remain relatively stable, with some commodities like chillies even declining. The office continues to monitor traditional and modern markets while planning another subsidised market operation in September 2026 to maintain affordability.

The Bandung City Trade and Industry Office (Disdagin) has stated that
the prices of various staple goods in traditional markets and modern
retail stores remain relatively stable, with some commodities even
experiencing price declines in recent weeks.

Head of Distribution and Trade and Metrological Supervision at
Disdagin Bandung, Meiwan Kartiwa, said the office routinely monitors
prices across various traditional markets and retail stores to ensure
supply and prices of essential goods remain under control.

“The results of our monitoring last Thursday showed that prices of
staple goods are still relatively stable. In fact, some commodities have
tended to decline, such as red cayenne pepper and red tanjung chilli
compared to previous weeks,” Meiwan said in Bandung on Sunday.

According to him, the price fluctuations that still occur mainly stem
from vegetable commodities, which are heavily influenced by weather
conditions. Meanwhile, other major commodities, such as chicken eggs,
remain in normal and stable condition.

He explained that the price of red cayenne pepper or domba chilli
currently ranges from Rp60,000 to Rp80,000 per kilogram, while red
tanjung chilli ranges from Rp40,000 to Rp60,000 per kilogram.

“Chilli prices are actually tending to decline compared to several
weeks ago,” he said.

Meanwhile, beef prices vary according to type and quality, ranging
from Rp130,000 to Rp150,000 per kilogram.

“Beef prices differ because the quality also differs. There are lean
cuts, topside, silverside, and rump, so the prices vary,” Meiwan
said.

For cooking oil, Disdagin noted that prices had risen some time ago.
However, market conditions have now returned to stability and are not
showing an upward trend.

“Cooking oil prices are currently holding steady, there is no further
increase,” he said.

In addition to price monitoring, Disdagin Bandung continues to run a
cheap market programme to help residents obtain staple goods at more
affordable prices.

Meiwan said the cheap market programme, which is a regular quarterly
agenda, was held ahead of Eid al-Adha in the second quarter of this
year. Similar activities will be held again in the third quarter, around
September 2026.

“Ahead of the third quarter, probably around September, we will hold
the cheap market again,” he said.
",
