Bandung schools on the web<\/p>\n
BANDUNG, West Java: Twenty-two public high schools here have
\nbeen hooked up to the Internet in a pioneering effort to
\nestablish a national educational network through the Internet.<\/p>\n
\"This proves that the idea to establish a national educational
\nnetwork has been enthusiastically welcomed, particularly by local
\njunior and senior high schools,\" Sony Sugema, chairman of the
\nSony Sugema College which initiated the plan to establish such a
\nnetwork through the Internet, said Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He said the on-line linking of these high schools marked the
\ninitial step taken by Bandung, the official site of the pilot
\nproject, toward materializing the plan.<\/p>\n
As reported by Antara, an agreement was signed on April 15
\nbetween the provincial education and culture office here and the
\nstate-owned satellite communications company, Indosat, on the
\nselection of Bandung as the site of the pilot project for the
\nnational educational network.<\/p>\n
According to Sugema, the college hopes to establish an SS-Net
\nEducation Network, which will deal specially with the
\nestablishment of an educational network through the Internet for
\nall educational institutions across Indonesia.<\/p>",
