Netty Prasetiyani Aher, a member of Commission IX of the Indonesian\nHouse of Representatives (DPR RI), has expressed deep concern regarding\nthe alleged detention and abuse of a woman in Bandung Regency. Netty\nbelieves that the case presents not only legal challenges but also\ncritical issues regarding the victim\u2019s health recovery, which requires\nfull attention from the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur attention must not stop at the legal process. Equally important\nis ensuring the victim receives optimal healthcare and rehabilitation\nservices,\u201d Netty stated in her announcement on Tuesday\n(23\/06\/202le).<\/p>\n
Based on circulating information, the victim was found in a\ndistressing condition, suffering from impaired mobility, difficulty\nspeaking, visual impairment, and various physical injuries believed to\nbe the result of prolonged violence. According to Netty, these\nconditions necessitate comprehensive and continuous medical handling,\nranging from physical care and medical rehabilitation to physiotherapy\nand mental health recovery.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe victim is alleged to have experienced violence and isolation\nover a long period. The impact is not merely physical wounds, but also\nprofound psychological trauma. Therefore, mental health services must be\na primary component of the recovery process,\u201d she emphasised.<\/p>\n
The PKS politician requested that the Ministry of Health, through the\nhealthcare facilities handling the victim, ensure that all\nrehabilitation needs are met maximally without being hindered by\nadministrative or financial issues.<\/p>\n
Netty also highlighted the importance of continuous support from\npsychologists and psychiatrists. In her view, trauma recovery cannot be\nresolved through initial examinations alone but requires a long process\nuntil the victim is able to return to a normal life.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe victim\u2019s mental health must receive attention as important as\ntheir physical health. Support should not cease after the victim is\ndischarged from the hospital, but must continue until they have fully\nrecovered,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, she noted that this alleged detention case serves as an\nimportant reminder to strengthen early detection systems for victims of\nviolence, particularly women in vulnerable and isolated situations. She\nremarked that the fact this case only came to light after several years\ndemonstrates the need for more responsive protection networks and\nhealthcare services regarding signs of violence.<\/p>\n
She expressed hope that all parties would seriously oversee the\nvictim\u2019s recovery process and ensure the victim\u2019s rights to health,\nsafety, and a better future are fulfilled. \u201cThe victim needs justice,\nbut also needs the opportunity to recover and continue their life.
