Bandung (ANTARA) - The Bandung city government and the West Java\nprovincial government are collaborating to redevelop the Cihampelas\nTerrace area after the administrative process for the asset transfer\nentered the verification stage with the relevant agencies.<\/p>\n
Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the documents for the transfer of\nthe Cihampelas Terrace asset have been signed and are now awaiting\nverification from the Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP),\nthe Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK), and the Ministry of\nHome Affairs.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe consequence is collaboration. This is a pleasant consequence\nbecause the city government and the provincial government can work\ntogether on the area\u2019s redevelopment,\u201d said Farhan in Bandung on\nThursday.<\/p>\n
According to him, the asset transfer actually opens up opportunities\nfor stronger collaboration between the Bandung city government and the\nWest Java provincial government in redeveloping the Cihampelas Terrace\narea.<\/p>\n
\u201cAdministratively, it is finished. I have already signed the letter,\nnow it is just the administrative process between the asset agencies and\nverification,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Farhan revealed that West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has requested\nthat the Cihampelas Terrace structure be dismantled first as an initial\nstep in revitalising the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Governor still wants us to dismantle Cihampelas Terrace. Yes, we\nwill do it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He explained that the concept for the area\u2019s redevelopment is still\nunder discussion. However, the direction of the revitalisation will\nrestore the function of public space by creating a more comfortable\natmosphere for pedestrians.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat is certain is that, firstly, Cihampelas Terrace will be\ndismantled to restore the comfort of being under the trees,\u201d said\nFarhan.<\/p>\n
Beyond the environmental aspect, the redevelopment will also take\ninto account the continuity of economic activity for business owners\nalong Cihampelas Street so that the area remains a centre for tourism\nand trade.<\/p>\n
Farhan said the character of the Cihampelas area will likely adapt to\nshifting trends in society.<\/p>\n
According to him, the culinary and hospitality sectors have great\npotential for continued development, even though the jeans trading trend\nis no longer what it once was.<\/p>\n
\u201cOptimising the businesses on both sides of the street is also a\nconcern. Perhaps Cihampelas will no longer be synonymous with jeans\nsales because people\u2019s trends have shifted. However, the culinary and\nhospitality sectors still have great potential for development,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
