Banda Aceh-Penang route<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Private airline company Sabang-Merauke Air
\nCharter (SMAC) has operated a new daily direct flight between
\nAceh's capital Banda Aceh and Malaysia's city of Penang since
\nJan. 1, Antara reported yesterday.<\/p>\n
A senior official at the Aceh provincial office, Razali Yusuf,
\nsaid the memorandum of understanding of the route was signed by
\nPT Duta Seulawah Megah, the operator of SMAC, and Malaysia's
\nUltimate Way Sdn. Bhd. in Penang Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Razali said the Seulawah 02 -- a Fokker-27 aircraft which
\nwould fly the route -- would be the second flight servicing the
\nBanda Aceh-Penang route.<\/p>\n
Malaysian private airline Pelangi Air had been servicing the
\nroute twice a week, he added.<\/p>\n
\"I hope the additional flight will boost tourist arrivals to
\nAceh and will improve economic cooperation between the two
\nneighboring countries,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He said the Seulawah 02 would also fly from Banda Aceh to
\nThailand three times a week starting sometime in the near future.
