The assistance\nwas derived from zakat funds collected through Baitul Mal Banda Aceh.\n\u201cAlhamdulillah, we are handing over houses that have been completed,\u201d\nsaid Banda Aceh Mayor Illiza Sa\u2019aduddin Djamal while presenting house\nkeys to beneficiaries in Banda Aceh on Friday. The 30 liveable homes are\nthe result of construction or completion under the 2025 budget year\nhousing assistance programme from Baitul Mal Banda Aceh. Illiza stated\nthat the liveable homes were built using zakat, infak, and sedekah (ZIS)\nfunds managed by Baitul Mal Banda Aceh. She said her administration had\npersonally inspected the beneficiaries\u2019 previous homes, which were truly\nunfit for habitation. Therefore, with the provision of these new houses,\nthey can live more comfortably and peacefully. Meanwhile, Chairman of\nBaitul Mal Kota Banda Aceh Yusuf Al Qardhawy said that last year\u2019s\nZIS-funded programme for liveable housing assistance and rehabilitation\ntotalled 57 units, comprising 30 new builds and 27 rehabilitations. He\nadded that the condition of the recipients\u2019 old homes was extremely\nconcerning, failing to meet liveable housing standards and endangering\nthe safety and health of the occupants. \u201cThey feel helped, especially\nsince the entire process from application to receiving the house\nincurred no charges whatsoever. This programme is completely free,\u201d he\nsaid. On this occasion, Yusuf invited muzaki, entrepreneurs, and\ninstitutions operating in Banda Aceh to fulfil their zakat obligations\nthrough Baitul Mal Kota Banda Aceh as the official zakat management\nbody.
