Bambang Wiyogo elected as new Hipmi chairman<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Executives of the Association of Indonesian
\nYoung Businessmen (Hipmi) elected Bambang Atmanto Wiyogo, son of
\nformer Jakarta governor Wiyogo Atmodarminto, as the association's
\nchairman for the 1995 to 1998 term at the end of their congress
\nSaturday.<\/p>\n
Bambang defeated two other candidates, Ketut Suardhana Linggih
\nand Eddy Kuntadi, in the election that was broadcast live on
\nANteve.<\/p>\n
Bambang, Ketut and Eddy, who were then assigned by the 135
\ncongress participants to elect the other Himpi executives for the
\n1995 to 1998 term, decided to appoint themselves as well as Reza
\nKamarulah, Andree M. Nasution and Indah Wasono as chairpersons.
\nThey also appointed 15 other people to lead the 23-year-old
\nassociation's departments.<\/p>\n
The 135 participants represented association chapters from all
\n27 Indonesian provinces.<\/p>\n
Bambang said after the three-day congress was closed by State
\nMinister of Sports and Youth Affairs Hayono Isman, that he would
\npromote provincial and regency level activities to enhance the
\ncountry's economic growth.<\/p>\n
Hipmi will also provide more information about business
\nopportunities in the provinces, he promised.<\/p>\n
Hipmi has 8,200 members, whose annual earnings range from a
\nfew thousand dollars to millions of dollars.<\/p>\n
Bambang, a former deputy chairman of Hipmi's Jakarta chapter,
\nowns 11 companies operating in oil, property, construction and
\ntelecommunications.<\/p>\n
A graduate of the Faculty of Economics at Gajah Mada
\nUniversity in Yogyakarta, Bambang is concurrently chief of
\ncooperatives and enterprises of the Communications Forum for the
\nChildren of Indonesian Retired Armed Forces Officers, as well as
\ntreasurer of the Youth Forum of Kosgoro, a business institution
\nestablished by Armed Forces veterans. (riz)<\/p>",
