        "content": "<p>Bambang Wiyogo elected as new Hipmi chairman<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Executives of the Association of Indonesian<br>\nYoung Businessmen (Hipmi) elected Bambang Atmanto Wiyogo, son of<br>\nformer Jakarta governor Wiyogo Atmodarminto, as the association's<br>\nchairman for the 1995 to 1998 term at the end of their congress<br>\nSaturday.<\/p>\n<p>Bambang defeated two other candidates, Ketut Suardhana Linggih<br>\nand Eddy Kuntadi, in the election that was broadcast live on<br>\nANteve.<\/p>\n<p>Bambang, Ketut and Eddy, who were then assigned by the 135<br>\ncongress participants to elect the other Himpi executives for the<br>\n1995 to 1998 term, decided to appoint themselves as well as Reza<br>\nKamarulah, Andree M. Nasution and Indah Wasono as chairpersons.<br>\nThey also appointed 15 other people to lead the 23-year-old<br>\nassociation's departments.<\/p>\n<p>The 135 participants represented association chapters from all<br>\n27 Indonesian provinces.<\/p>\n<p>Bambang said after the three-day congress was closed by State<br>\nMinister of Sports and Youth Affairs Hayono Isman, that he would<br>\npromote provincial and regency level activities to enhance the<br>\ncountry's economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>Hipmi will also provide more information about business<br>\nopportunities in the provinces, he promised.<\/p>\n<p>Hipmi has 8,200 members, whose annual earnings range from a<br>\nfew thousand dollars to millions of dollars.<\/p>\n<p>Bambang, a former deputy chairman of Hipmi's Jakarta chapter,<br>\nowns 11 companies operating in oil, property, construction and<br>\ntelecommunications.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of the Faculty of Economics at Gajah Mada<br>\nUniversity in Yogyakarta, Bambang is concurrently chief of<br>\ncooperatives and enterprises of the Communications Forum for the<br>\nChildren of Indonesian Retired Armed Forces Officers, as well as<br>\ntreasurer of the Youth Forum of Kosgoro, a business institution<br>\nestablished by Armed Forces veterans.
