The Bali Provincial Government has received the Commendable Economic\nProgramme Award in the category of Economic and Infrastructure\nAcceleration Driver at the detikBali-Nusra Awards 2026. The award was\naccepted by the Head of the Regional Research and Innovation Agency\n(BRIDA) of Bali Province, Ketut Wica, representing the Governor of Bali,\nWayan Koster, at an event held in Trans Resort Bali on Friday\n(3\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n
This award was presented in recognition of the Bali Provincial\nGovernment\u2019s achievements in stimulating economic growth while\naccelerating the development of strategic infrastructure on the Island\nof the Gods. Various macroeconomic indicators show a positive trend\namidst the economic transformation efforts undertaken by the local\ngovernment.<\/p>\n
According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) Bali as\nof 5 February 2026, Bali\u2019s economy grew by 5.82 per cent. This figure\nrepresents an increase from the previous achievement of 5.48 per cent\nand stands above the national economic growth average, which was\nrecorded at 5.11 per cent.<\/p>\n
Several social welfare indicators also show improvement. The poverty\nrate has dropped to 3.42 per cent, the lowest in the country. The open\nunemployment rate has also decreased to 1.45 per cent, while the Gini\nratio has improved to 0.333.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Bali\u2019s Human Development Index (HDI) has risen to 79.37,\nplacing Bali among the top five provinces with the highest HDI in\nIndonesia. The per capita income of the Balinese people has also\nincreased to Rp 72.66 million.<\/p>\n
Driving Economic Transformation<\/p>\n
The Bali Provincial Government continues to push for an economic\ntransformation that does not rely solely on the tourism sector.\nStrengthening efforts are being directed towards agriculture, fisheries,\nindustry, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the creative\neconomy, and high-quality tourism.<\/p>\n
These efforts are supported by an increase in international tourist\narrivals, with 2.46 million foreign tourists visiting Bali. Meanwhile,\nrevenue from the foreign tourist levy (PWA) reached Rp 369 billion per\nyear, an increase from the previous Rp 318 billion.<\/p>\n
The Bali Provincial Government is also accelerating the\nimplementation of organic farming systems and the downstream processing\nof the fisheries sector to increase the added value of local products\nand strengthen regional economic resilience.<\/p>\n
Accelerating Strategic Infrastructure<\/p>\n
In addition to the economic sector, the Bali Provincial Government is\nalso accelerating the construction of various strategic infrastructures.\nSeveral ongoing priority projects include the construction of the\nSingaraja-Mengwitani shortcut, which is targeted for completion in\n2027.<\/p>\n
The Provincial Government is also continuing the construction of the\nJimbaran underpass, the Nusa Ceningan-Lembongan Bridge, and the Unda\nReservoir to support connectivity and the community\u2019s water resource\nneeds.<\/p>\n
In the public transport sector, the Trans Metro Dewata bus service\nhas been reactivated and is planned to reach the Singaraja region to\nimprove mass transport services in Bali.<\/p>\n
The Bali Provincial Government is also accelerating waste management\nissues, with a target to completely close the Suwung Landfill by 1\nAugust 2026. Additionally, the construction of a waste-to-energy\nfacility (PSEL) with a capacity of 1,200 tonnes per day is being\nprepared, alongside the development of rooftop solar power plants (PLTS)\nup to 250 megawatts.<\/p>\n
The commitment to clean energy is also reflected in the increasing\nuse of electric vehicles, which places Bali in second place\nnationally.<\/p>\n
