        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 The Ministry of Tourism announced that the province of Bali\nhas been awarded \u2018The Best Island\u2019 at the DestinAsian Readers\u2019 Choice\nAwards 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018May this achievement further strengthen Indonesia\u2019s position as a\nglobal tourism destination beloved by people around the world. This\nachievement also serves as an inspiration for all of us to continue\nraising the standards of the tourism industry and strengthen Indonesia\u2019s\npresence on the international stage,\u2019 Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh\nPuspa said in an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The award reinforces Bali\u2019s status as a leading destination and the\nfirst destination that comes to mind for world travellers, particularly\nin the Asia-Pacific region. In the awards, Bali surpassed a number of\npopular destinations worldwide, including Boracay (Philippines), Flores\n&amp; Komodo Island (Indonesia), Langkawi (Malaysia), Lombok\n(Indonesia), the Maldives, Palawan (Philippines), Phu Quoc (Vietnam),\nPhuket (Thailand), and Koh Samui (Thailand).<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry stated that one of the challenges they face is waste\nmanagement at the destination. President Prabowo Subianto has launched\nthe Aman, Sehat, Resik, dan Indah (ASRI) movement emphasising systematic\nenvironmental management based on environmentally friendly\ntechnology.<\/p>\n<p>In line with these efforts, the Nusantara Daya Anagata Investment\nManagement Agency (BPI Danantara) will accelerate the development of a\nwaste-to-energy project with Denpasar City as one of the first\nlocations.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The issue of waste cannot be tackled by a single party.\nCollaboration among all stakeholders is needed so that Bali can continue\nto strengthen its competitiveness as Indonesia\u2019s premier tourism\ndestination,\u2019 Ni Luh said.<\/p>\n<p>DestinAsian Readers\u2019 Choice Awards is an annual award organised by\nDestinAsian Magazine, which recognises the best players in the\nAsia-Pacific travel industry. Winners are determined based on\nexperiences of the magazine\u2019s readers, comprising active travellers and\ninternational travel industry players.<\/p>\n<p>Bali first won The Best Island in 2006 and has consistently won the\naward from 2022 to 2026.
