        "content": "<p>Denpasar (ANTARA) - The Bali Transportation Department (Dishub Bali)\nhopes that the trial of the water taxi or sea taxi initiative being\npromoted by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) can be conducted\nthis year, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt present, we are still finalising the studies, including vessel\nand port designs, with the hope that the trial can be carried out this\nyear,\u201d said the Head of Dishub Bali, I Kadek Mudarta, in Denpasar on\nFriday.<\/p>\n<p>Kadek Mudarta assessed that the sea taxi could serve as an\nalternative amid the heavy road traffic, especially in the area from the\ngateway of Bali\u2019s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport to tourist attractions.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the first route to be implemented is from Pantai Sekeh,\nlocated next to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, to Canggu, specifically\nPantai Berawa.<\/p>\n<p>The sea taxi project is currently in the study phase, and the results\nof the study will also formulate the roles of related institutions,\nincluding Dishub Bali, as the implementation falls under the authority\nof PT ASDP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, it is hoped that this can be carried out by a business entity;\nsince this route is within one regency, Badung naturally has a greater\nrole, but the study will also formulate the roles of stakeholders,\nincluding the Bali Provincial Government,\u201d said Kadek Mudarta.<\/p>\n<p>If the study and trial are underway, he said, then in line with the\nMinistry of Transportation\u2019s target, construction is estimated to be\ncompleted by mid-2027.<\/p>\n<p>The Canggu area, specifically Pantai Berawa, was also chosen because\nit is among the highest visited spots by domestic and foreign tourists\nin Bali.<\/p>\n<p>For the process, the Ministry of Transportation is currently\nassigning PT ASDP, as the sea taxi operator, to prepare the DED (Detail\nEngineering Design) study, targeting construction to start in August\n2026 and also aiming for a trial this year.<\/p>",
