The province of Bali has successfully secured first place in two\ncategories at the 2\/026 Regional Java-Bali Local Government Achievement\nAwards, held at the Yogyakarta Marriott Hotel, Special Region of\nYogyakarta, on Thursday, 4 June 2026. The \u2018Island of the Gods\u2019 won top\nhonours in the categories of Poverty Alleviation and Stunting Reduction,\nas well as Inflation Control, in the event organised by the Ministry of\nHome Affairs (Kemendagri).<\/p>\n
The Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, stated that although Bali has\nalready achieved its lowest poverty rate, he remains committed to\nimplementing programmes to further reduce poverty. He also intends to\nstrive for even more effective inflation control. \u201cWe have scheduled a\nmeeting on 8 June with all mayors and regents across Bali to reduce\npoverty through an integrated approach across all regencies and cities,\u201d\nhe said following the award ceremony.<\/p>\n
Regarding inflation, Koster noted that the province\u2019s efforts are\nsupported by weekly coordination meetings. \u201cWe have received guidance\nfrom the Minister of Home Affairs on how to minimise and further improve\ninflation control,\u201d he added. Wayan Koster emphasised that the current\nachievements are the result of close cooperation and coordination\nbetween the various regencies and cities within Bali.<\/p>\n
The Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, explained that\nwhile Bali was previously grouped in the same region as West Nusa\nTenggara (NTB) and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), it has been moved to the\nJava region this year. \u201cAfter reviewing all the figures, we see that\nBali\u2019s growth is rapid and development is progressing faster there. In\nfact, when competing against NTB and NTT, Bali consistently wins,\u201d said\nMinister Tito. Consequently, the Ministry moved Bali to compete against\na more balanced group, namely the Java region.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be honest, I am personally supervising the assessment team. I\nhave stated that we must maintain the credibility of the Ministry of\nHome Affairs; otherwise, we will lose our prestige if these results are\nmanipulated,\u201d stated Tito. He noted that one of the valid indicators\nbeing closely monitored every week is national inflation control, which\nis currently maintained at 3.08 per cent.<\/p>\n
The Minister expressed high appreciation for all high-achieving\nregional heads. He expressed hope that this recognition would not lead\nto complacency but rather serve as a catalyst to continuously improve\npublic service performance. For regions that did not win awards this\nyear, Tito requested that they use this momentum as a basis for\nevaluation and motivation to work harder in the next period.<\/p>\n
In the 2026 Regional Java-Bali Local Government Achievement Awards,\nBali won first place in the Poverty Alleviation and Stunting Reduction\ncategory, with West Java taking second place.
