        "content": "<p>Bali roads wrecked by tides<\/p>\n<p>DENPASAR, Bali: A 51-kilometer stretch of road along<br>\nBali's coastline is being impaired by increasing abrasion and is<br>\nnow threatening to disrupt traffic to key residential, tourist<br>\nand worship sites.<\/p>\n<p>Head of Bali's public works office, Wayan Subagiarta, said<br>\nthat whitecap-induced abrasion had occurred at 29 locations<br>\nthroughout Bali, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>Wayan said since 1981, periodic repairs and continuous<br>\nmonitoring of the situation has been undertaken. He noted that<br>\nthe difficulty is being caused by different characteristics of<br>\nwaves hitting Bali's shoreline and that this is threatening over<br>\n500 kilometers of road hugging the shoreline.<\/p>\n<p>Included in the repairs, which have been done since 1990, is<br>\nthe 2.95-kilometer road along Singaraja beach, which cost the<br>\ncentral government Rp 3.42 billion to build.<\/p>",
