Denpasar (ANTARA) - The Bali Provincial Government (Pemprov Bali) is\ncollaborating with 12,000 students from 38 universities across Bali to\nhelp accelerate regional development programmes through a Community\nService Programme (KKN) conducted simultaneously for the first time.<\/p>\n
Governor of Bali Wayan Koster launched the collaborative programme\nDesa Kerthi Bali Sejahtera, where villages\u2014the main foundation of Bali\nwhere culture is nurtured, nature is protected, and people are\nshaped\u2014become the primary locus of this programme.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough this Desa Kerti Bali Sejahtera programme, we integrate the\nnoble values of Sad Kerthi, which include Atma Kerthi, Segara Kerthi,\nDanu Kerthi, Wana Kerthi, Jana Kerthi, and Jagat Kerthi, into real work\nprogrammes in the field,\u201d said Governor Koster.<\/p>\n
The Bali Provincial Government initiated this collaboration because\nit sees higher education institutions as having a very strategic role in\nhelping to accelerate regional development.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, this community service programme is not merely the\nimplementation of KKN or the fulfilment of academic obligations; it is a\nreal implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education synergised\nwith the Bali Provincial development policy direction, so that Bali\u2019s\ndevelopment programmes are implemented effectively, efficiently, and on\ntarget,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
In this inaugural collaboration, more than 12,000 students are\ninvolved, along with over 900 field supervisors. According to Koster,\nthis number represents a very large intellectual force if directed to\nhelp the community solve various development problems.<\/p>\n
The Bali Provincial Government wants to ensure that Bali\u2019s\ndevelopment is not only centred in cities or tourism areas but grows\nfrom the grassroots, namely the villages.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope that all students will be able to leave a real mark of\ndedication in the context of village development through this community\nservice activity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Desa Kerthi Bali Sejahtera community service programme is\ndirected at accelerating the implementation of the Bali Provincial\nGovernment\u2019s priority development programmes, including source-based\nwaste management, the Bali Clean Waste movement, and the restriction of\nsingle-use plastic bags.<\/p>\n
Other priorities include the protection of lakes, springs, rivers,\nand the sea; strengthening organic farming systems; the use and\nmarketing of local Balinese products; strengthening MSMEs and the\nvillage economy; preserving customs, arts, culture, language, script,\nand Balinese woven fabrics; the one family one scholar programme; and\nthe Nyoman and Ketut incentive to preserve Balinese local wisdom.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope that all students and field supervisors can become partners\nfor village governments, traditional villages, and the community in\naccelerating the implementation of these various programmes.
