Bali port to get security gate<\/p>\n
DENPASAR, Bali: Police have said they would install a security
\ngate at Gilimanuk Port on the resort island of Bali to prevent
\nexplosives or dangerous materials from entering the province,
\nwhich has twice been attacked by terrorists.<\/p>\n
The presence of the security gate at the port connecting Bali
\nand Java would be crucial in relation to the exodus of Idul Fitri
\ntravelers, Bali Police spokesman Sr. Comr. A.S. Reniban said.<\/p>\n
\"It's very important because there is a possibility that
\ncrooks or terrorists could make use of the situation amid the
\nIdul Fitri exodus to smuggle dangerous materials onto Bali,\" he
\nsaid on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Reniban said all goods would have to pass through the security
\ngate before being loaded onto ferries at the port.<\/p>\n
Apart from the security gate, he added, security personnel
\nstationed at the port were also equipped with metal detectors and
\nmirrors for vehicle checks.<\/p>\n
These measures are aimed at preventing the possibility of a
\nfurther terror attack on Bali after the latest bomb blasts on
\nOct. 1, which killed 23 people, including three suspected suicide
