The South Korean Embassy in Indonesia issued urgent travel advice for\ncitizens last week.<\/p>\n
The embassy announced, \u201cDue to the recent increase in serious crimes\ntargeting foreigners in popular tourist areas such as Jimbaran,\nSeminyak, and Canggu in the Bali region, we urge citizens visiting Bali\nto pay attention to their personal safety.\u201d<\/p>\n
Following the update\u2019s advice, Bali Police and leaders across the\nprovince were quick to respond to the travel warnings, calling on a\nmeasured approach from holidaymakers.<\/p>\n
The impact of the travel warnings from the South Korean embassy\nsparked concern for travel and tourism businesses across Bali, as South\nKorean tourists are an increasingly important demographic for local\nbusinesses.<\/p>\n
Between January and February 2026, 51,108 South Korean tourists\nvisited the province. There is also increasing interest in travel to\nSouth Korea by Indonesian nationals.<\/p>\n
In light of the warnings, Bali Police held an audience with\nrepresentatives from the South Korean embassy to explain what measures\nare in place to protect all tourists from crime and safety violations in\nthe province. The meeting was a success, and Bali Police published the\noutcomes of the discussion to clear up any confusion among tourists and\npotential visitors.<\/p>\n
Bali Police explained, \u201cDuring the meeting, the South Korean\nConsulate clarified that its recent travel advisory was a routine safety\nreminder for Korean citizens, not a travel ban or restriction. The\nConsulate expressed appreciation for the Bali Police\u2019s prompt response\nin addressing security concerns and confirmed that its communication\nchannels have been updated to reflect the current security situation\naccurately.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bali Police added that concrete security measures are in place to\nprotect foreign nationals in the province. Noting the efforts already in\nplace, including \u201cIntensified patrols in tourist areas and high-traffic\nzones. Enhanced coordination with tourism stakeholders and foreign\nmissions. Swift investigation and resolution of cases involving foreign\nnationals.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Bali Police confirmed that it has recorded a 23% decrease in\ncriminal cases involving foreign nationals from January to April 2026,\ncompared to the same period last year.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Police Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya shared,\n\u201cThe safety and comfort of all visitors, including our Korean friends,\nremains our highest priority.\u201d Adding \u201cThis partnership demonstrates our\nshared commitment to maintaining Bali as a world-class, secure tourism\ndestination.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a separate written statement, Bali Police explained that the Bali\nRegional Police (Polda Bali) remains fully committed to ensuring the\nsafety and comfort of all visitors. Through enhanced patrols (KRYD) and\na priority focus on public security, we are dedicated to maintaining the\n\u201cIsland of the Gods\u201d as a peaceful destination for the world to\nenjoy.<\/p>\n
