Bali hosts language talks<\/p>\n
DENPASAR, Bali: The tourist island will host the second
\ninternational conference on language in development in Nusa Dua
\nfrom April 10 through 12.<\/p>\n
The conference is being organized by the Indonesia-Australia
\nLanguage Foundation in cooperation with the Asian Institute of
\nTechnology of Bangkok and the National Center for English
\nLanguage Teaching and Research of Sydney.<\/p>\n
\"The biennial conference is to provide a forum for an exchange
\nof views and ideas on language and communication in development,\"
\nTony Crooks, the conference manager, said yesterday.<\/p>\n
The three-day conference is sponsored by the Australian
\nInternational Development Assistance Bureau and the British
\nCouncil, which are funding the speakers.<\/p>\n
He said the conference is expected to lead not only to greater
\ncooperation between donor agencies and language experts in
\ndesigning the language input components of development projects,
\nbut also to formal and informal international links, staff
