        "content": "<p>Bali hosts family planning conference<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The National Family Planning Board (BKKBN) will<br>\nhold a one-week conference to evaluate the outcome of an<br>\nIndonesia-sponsored international training program on family<br>\nplanning.<\/p>\n<p>The board&apos;s official, Santoso, said on Friday the conference<br>\nwould take place in Bali&apos;s capital of Denpasar from Nov. 14 to<br>\nNov. 18 and would be attended by 25 participants from 12 Asian<br>\ncountries plus a lecturer from John Hopkins University in United<br>\nStates.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia, regarded as one of the most successful countries in<br>\ndeveloping family planning programs, launched the international<br>\ntraining program 12 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Since the program&apos;s inception, Indonesia has trained 3,633<br>\nfamily planning workers from 90 countries and sent 39 consultants<br>\nabroad to share with their counterparts the Indonesian experience<br>\nin family planning.<\/p>\n<p>Due in part to the program, some countries in Asia, like<br>\nBangladesh, Thailand and the Philippines, managed to follow in<br>\nIndonesia&apos;s footsteps by reducing their population growth rate.<\/p>\n<p>Santoso said that during the conference BKKBN hopes to hear<br>\neither the successes or failures of participants in family<br>\nplanning programs in their respective countries.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We hope to boost the information exchange among Asian<br>\ncountries in order to improve the family planning program,&quot; he<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Participants of the conference will have an opportunity to<br>\nobserve how family planning works at Gianyar, near Denpasar.<\/p>\n<p>Bali is the most successful province in controlling the<br>\nbirthrate in the country.
