        "content": "<p>Bali Governor Wayan Koster is confident that the Waste-to-Energy\n(PSEL) technology, which has begun construction, can enhance Bali\u2019s\ntourism image. \u201cWhen this is completed, not only will the environmental\necosystem be good and healthy for community life, but Bali\u2019s tourism\nimage will also improve,\u201d he said during the PSEL Bali Groundbreaking in\nDenpasar on Wednesday. The PSEL, initiated by Danantara Indonesia and\nlaunched by the Coordinating Minister for Food, will solve Bali\u2019s waste\nproblem by processing it into electrical energy. Koster noted that Bali\nhas continuously been hit by various issues such as traffic congestion,\nwater, electricity, and waste, yet tourists keep visiting. He is\ntherefore convinced that resolving the waste issue will further increase\ntourist arrivals. \u201cTourism in Bali is very robust. Despite being hit by\ncongestion issues, the world community still loves Bali. In 2025, within\none year, the number of foreign tourist visits to Bali reached\n7,050,000, an increase of 750,000 from 2024, and domestic tourists\nreached 9.3 million,\u201d he said. Throughout 2025, total tourist visits\nreached 16 million, contributing significantly to the local economy and\ngenerating approximately Rp176 trillion in national foreign exchange.\nBali\u2019s tourism contributes more than 65 percent to the island\u2019s economy,\nsupporting hotels, restaurants, transport services, and MSMEs, resulting\nin Bali\u2019s economic growth reaching 5.82 percent in 2025, the fifth\nhighest among provinces with natural resources. \u201cTherefore, tourism in\nBali must be well maintained, and of course, this waste issue must be\nresolved so that Bali\u2019s tourism image becomes even better, high-quality,\nand competitive in the future,\u201d said Governor Koster. To ensure the\nsuccess of Indonesia\u2019s first PSEL project, the Bali Provincial\nGovernment is sharing responsibilities, including providing 6 hectares\nof land in Pedungan, Denpasar, and preparing the land together with\nDenpasar City and Badung as one agglomeration. \u201cFor the land maturation,\nfilling in the swampy holes, we conducted a ritual ceremony yesterday;\nit couldn\u2019t be done directly. We carried out this process properly,\nasking nature for its blessing, and finally, it was completed before the\n30 June target,\u201d Koster said. The provincial government\u2019s\nresponsibilities have been fulfilled smoothly, allowing the PSEL Bali\nconstruction launch to proceed today.
