'Bali beyond Kuta' in Melbourne<\/p>\n
The Indonesian Consulate General in Melbourne, Australia, will
\nhold Bali Night Festival next August, featuring North Bali as an
\nalternative tourist destination for Australian travelers.<\/p>\n
Wahid Supriyadi, the consul general, told The Jakarta Post
\nrecently that North Bali had huge tourist and agricultural
\npotential.<\/p>\n
\"We have suggested that the Bali and Buleleng authorities
\nexplore the possibility of developing Singaraja and other cities
\nin the regency as waterfront cities and centers for agrotourism,\"
\nWahid said.<\/p>\n
For the August festival, the office has already invited
\nnumerous travel agents, tourism-related businesses and
\nindividuals, as well as travel writers, to participate in this
\ntourist promotional event.<\/p>\n
The Bali Night Festival will be followed up by a larger annual
\nevent, Festival Indonesia, held at Federation Square, Melbourne,
\nfrom Sept. 29 through Oct. 1. The festival will include tourist
\npromotions, an investment forum, art and cultural activities as
\nwell as an Indonesian food extravaganza.<\/p>\n
\"A number of potential investors in Australia are interested
\nin doing business in Bali, particularly in the northern part of
\nthe island,\" added Wahid, saying that some had met with Bali
\nGovernor Dewa Beratha.<\/p>\n
Wahid also said that his office was now actively helping small
\nand medium-sized hotels in Bali to promote their establishment in
