        "content": "<p>Bakun dam boss sues journalist<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): The chairman of Malaysia&apos;s mammoth Bakun<br>\ndam project has sued a local journalist for 100 million ringgit<br>\n(US$40 million) for defaming him on the Internet, legal sources<br>\nsaid yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The suit by Ekran Bhd. executive chairman Ting Pek Khiing was<br>\nfiled against freelance journalist M.G.G. Pillai last Friday at<br>\nthe High Court in eastern Sarawak state on Borneo, the source<br>\ntold AFP.<\/p>\n<p>Ting is seeking &quot;special damages&quot; from Pillai, who is based in<br>\nKuala Lumpur, for allegedly ruining his reputation and defaming<br>\nthe national project globally in articles which appeared on the<br>\nInternet.<\/p>\n<p>Ting is also seeking an injunction to prevent Pillai from<br>\nfurther publishing any negative or unfavorable reports about the<br>\nproject, his company or himself.<\/p>",
