Jakarta \u2013 The Head of the Government Public Communications Agency,\nMuhammad Qodari, stressed that President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s policy to\nstrengthen export supervision of strategic commodities is an immediate\nimplementation of the mandate of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution,\nwhich concerns state control over natural resources for the greatest\nprosperity of the people.<\/p>\n
He said this at a press conference themed \u2018Delivery of the Macro\nEconomic Framework and Key Fiscal Policy Outline of the RAPBN for Fiscal\nYear 2027\u2019 alongside the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, the\nMinister of Finance, and the CEO of Danantara at the Parliament complex\nin Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (20 May).<\/p>\n
Qodari, as quoted from an official Bakom RI broadcast confirmed in\nJakarta on Thursday, explained that the policy is a comprehensive\ngovernment step to safeguard Indonesia\u2019s natural resources while\nensuring their use for the welfare of the people, from upstream to\ndownstream.<\/p>\n
\u2018The President is safeguarding Indonesia\u2019s natural resources;\nIndonesia\u2019s natural wealth is comprehensive from upstream to\ndownstream,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
In the upstream sector, the government has carried out enforcement\nand law enforcement actions, including through the Forest Areas\nEnforcement Task Force (PKH), which is said to have reclaimed almost 6\nmillion hectares of palm oil plantation land.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the value of seizures carried out by the Attorney\nGeneral\u2019s Office has reached around IDR 45 trillion.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile in the downstream sector, the government is now\nstrengthening the supervision of trade in strategic commodities, such as\npalm oil, coal, and ferroalloy.<\/p>\n
\u2018So, the selling is also safeguarded by the President,\u2019 Qodari\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The step was taken after the President identified misinvoicing,\nunder-invoicing, under-accounting, transfer pricing, and other practices\ndeemed detrimental to the nation.<\/p>\n
According to Qodari, all of these policies are direct derivatives of\nthe Preamble to the 1945 Constitution and Article 33 of the 1945\nConstitution.<\/p>\n
\u2018The Preamble to the 1945 Constitution sets out the goals of our\nnationality and statehood, which today are highly relevant: first, to\nprotect the entire Indonesian nation because these are Indonesia\u2019s\nnatural resources; second, to advance general welfare, where natural\nresource wealth must be maximised for the greatest prosperity of the\nIndonesian people,\u2019 Qodari said.<\/p>\n
He also stressed that Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution is the main\nlegal basis for the management of national natural wealth by the\nstate.<\/p>\n
