The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil\nLahadalia, has reminded affluent members of the public not to use\nsubsidised fuel (BBM). He stated that fuel subsidies should be reserved\nfor those who are rightfully entitled to receive them.<\/p>\n
Bahlil urged those in middle-to-upper economic conditions,\nparticularly those owning vehicles that reflect adequate economic\nstatus, to use non-subsidised fuel.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am appealing to my fellow citizens, and I will continue to do so.\nThose who are capable, those with good incomes, the middle-to-upper\nclass, with nice cars\u2014please do not use subsidised fuel,\u201d said Bahlil\nfollowing the MKI Electricity Connect 2026 event on Tuesday\n(22\/09\/2026).<\/p>\n
He noted that the use of subsidised fuel by wealthy individuals can\nshift the subsidy allocation away from those who truly need it.\nTherefore, he called for the public to have the awareness not to take\naway the rights of those who depend on government subsidies.<\/p>\n
\u201cShould we not feel ashamed towards our fellow citizens who are meant\nto receive fuel subsidies, but find their quota taken by those who are\ncapable? It does not end there,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Bahlil emphasised that the government has ensured\nthat the price of subsidised fuel will not increase until the end of the\nyear. In addition to maintaining prices, the government is also ensuring\nthat the national fuel stock remains secure.<\/p>\n
