        "content": "<p>Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has revealed\nthe reasons why the giant Masela Block gas project has not been realised\nfor decades. Bahlil assessed that slow decision-making is one of the\nmain factors hampering the project. The project, developed by INPEX\nCorporation, has been held up for around 28 years. According to him,\nthis situation is not entirely the fault of the investor, but also a\nresult of the domestic decision-making process. \u201cThat example, like\nInpex, 28 years not progressing, it\u2019s not just their fault, it\u2019s our\nfault too,\u201d Bahlil said while speaking at the CNBC Indonesia Energy\nForum in Jakarta on Thursday. He explained that during a cabinet meeting\naround 2016, there was a lengthy debate regarding the development\nconcept for the Masela Block, specifically whether the gas processing\nfacility would be built offshore or onshore. According to him, overly\nprolonged debate actually hinders the realisation of investment. He\nnoted that differing academic viewpoints are indeed important, but must\nbe balanced with the courage to make decisions. \u201cI spoke earlier at\nIndef, the more academic debate there is, the more we don\u2019t know when\nthe execution will happen.
