Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, has informed President Prabowo Subianto that the country has secured a supply of crude oil from Russia following high-level talks. The agreement also includes Russian commitments to build energy infrastructure in Indonesia to enhance national energy resilience, with ongoing negotiations for LPG imports to diversify the nation's annual 7 million tonne requirement. This development ensures Indonesia's crude oil supply is secure through December, allowing focus on boosting domestic refinery production.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia
reported to President Prabowo Subianto that the government has secured a
supply of crude oil from Russia.

This was revealed by Bahlil after a limited meeting at the State
Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (16/4/2026).

As is known, Bahlil had met face-to-face with Russian Energy Minister
Sergey Tsivilev on Tuesday (15/4/2026). This meeting was a follow-up to
high-level discussions between President Prabowo and Russian President
Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin the day before.

Not only securing a crude oil supply, the meeting also resulted in
commitments from the Russian side to build infrastructure in Indonesia
to enhance energy resilience, according to him.

“Alhamdulillah, following the President’s instructions yesterday, I
met with the Energy Minister and Special Envoy from President Putin, and
the news is quite encouraging that we will receive crude supplies from
Russia and the Russian side is ready to build several important
infrastructures to increase our national reserves and energy
resilience,” said Bahlil after the meeting at the Palace on Thursday
(16/4/2026).

In addition, according to Bahlil, his side is also continuing
intensive communications regarding LPG supplies for Indonesia from
Russia. As is known, Indonesia imports around 7 million tonnes of LPG
every year.

“In addition, we are also communicating regarding LPG. We know that
our LPG is around 7 million tonnes imported every year, and now we are
diversifying and insya Allah we will also receive support, but this
still requires effort and communication in two or three stages, but for
the crude, I think it’s almost final,” he said.

However, Bahlil did not want to disclose the volume of crude oil to
be imported from Russia. Because there is an agreement prohibiting
discussion of the import volume.

But Bahlil emphasised that Indonesia’s crude oil supply until
December is assured to be secure.

“For crude, one year from this month until December, insya Allah it’s
already secure. So we don’t need to worry; we just need to increase our
refinery production,” he stated.
",
