Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, has urged the public to use fuel from petrol stations wisely, limiting purchases to daily needs of up to 40 litres per person, as it is intended solely for household consumption and not for industrial use. He warned against panic buying and highlighted instances of trucks queuing not for transport but to resell fuel, calling on opportunists to cease hoarding amid the current supply stability. This statement aims to prevent misuse during potential crises and promote national responsibility.

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral
Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has emphasised that fuel oil (BBM)
sold at petrol stations is only for daily consumption by the public. The
fuel supply at petrol stations is stressed as not being for industrial
needs.

Bahlil has asked the public to be prudent in obtaining fuel supplies.
He emphasised that petrol stations only serve daily fuel consumption by
the public up to 40 litres.

“Please, petrol stations are not for industry, please use them
wisely. If one day, for example, 30 litres or 40 litres is enough, that
should suffice,” Bahlil stated during a press conference after
inspecting the fuel supply at the Bolon petrol station in Colomadu
Subdistrict, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, on Thursday
(26/3/2026).

He also urged the public not to panic when buying fuel or engage in
panic buying of BBM. This is because, according to him, the current
domestic fuel supply is still in a safe condition.

Furthermore, Bahlil mentioned that trucks queuing at petrol stations
are actually using BBM not for transporting goods. Instead, there is
still a practice of reselling fuel through those trucks.

“Do not let there still be those queuing at petrol stations with
trucks when the contents are not for transport but after queuing, they
sell it again,” he explained.

Thus, he warned rogue elements exploiting the current crisis
situation to stop.

“I ask my brothers who are rogue elements engaging in hoarding to
please look at Mother Earth; now she needs wise children of Mother
Earth. If we love our country, if we love our people, we should not do
things that are not proper,” he concluded.
",
