JAKARTA - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil\nLahadalia, has revealed that Indonesia has identified new sources of\ncrude oil beyond the Middle East.<\/p>\n
This diversification of oil sources is a strategy to secure the\nnational energy supply amid the intensifying Middle East conflict\nbetween the United States (US) and Israel against Iran.<\/p>\n
However, Bahlil declined to disclose which countries are the new oil\nsources for Indonesia.<\/p>\n
He explained that approximately 20 per cent of Indonesia\u2019s total\ncrude oil imports have previously come from the Middle East region.<\/p>\n
The remainder is usually supplied from other countries, such as\nAngola in Africa, the US, and Brazil.<\/p>\n
With the escalating conflict in the Middle East, the government has\ndecided to redirect all imports from the Middle East to other\ncountries.<\/p>\n
Thus, it is assured to be safe in meeting the needs of the\npublic.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo our fuel stocks, God willing, are in a safe condition, meeting\nthe minimum standards,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The government has also assured that there will be no implementation\nof restrictions on fuel purchases, particularly subsidised ones.<\/p>\n
Bahlil guaranteed that the prices of subsidised fuels will remain the\nsame.<\/p>\n
According to him, this policy is taken considering the condition of\nthe public, especially low-income groups, to keep them protected.<\/p>\n
Bahlil said this is in line with the directives of President Prabowo\nSubianto, who emphasises the importance of safeguarding the interests of\nthe people.<\/p>\n
