Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Minister of Energy and Mineral
Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has ensured the availability of
natural gas supplies for domestic needs, stating they are sufficient to
meet the demands of the industrial sector. This statement comes amid
concerns from business players regarding potential gas shortages that
could disrupt the operational continuity of national manufacturing.

Bahlil emphasised that all domestic requirements, particularly for
Liquefed Natural Gas (LNG), are currently available in the market. He
noted that the government continues to monitor energy distribution to
ensure that strategic sectors, such as the industrial and fertiliser
industries, do not face obstacles in accessing primary energy.

“To be clear, I can ensure that all domestic needs for LNG are
available. While there has been a price increase, this is not unique to
Indonesia; it is happening globally,” he said when met at the DPR RI
Building, Jakarta, on Monday (8/6/2026).

Bahlil explained that the current rise in industrial gas prices is
inseparable from global energy market dynamics. According to him,
domestic price movements continue to follow global price correction
trends experienced by various gas-producing and consuming nations.

“So, in terms of supply, everything is available. Prices are
undergoing corrections in line with world prices. It is not as if prices
are rising only in Indonesia while the rest of the world remains stable.
However, regarding the HGBT (Gas for Industrial Use) price, it remains
in accordance with government decisions,” he added.

Currently, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is working to
increase efficiency within the upstream gas price structure to safeguard
the competitiveness of national industries. The government is engaged in
intensive coordination with Production Sharing Contract (PSC)
contractors to find a middle ground between contract price formulations
and current economic conditions.

“Up to now, we are seeking greater efficiency. We are communicating
with PSC contractors because there is a specific formula involved. While
some are owned by State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), our PSC contractors
also include national and foreign private entities, so we must respect
existing contracts while seeking more efficient solutions,” he
explained.

Beyond pricing, the government guarantees that priority for supply
fulfilment will remain directed towards domestic needs before being
allocated to the export market. This approach is considered crucial for
strengthening national energy security and maintaining industrial
operational stability amidst global geopolitical volatility.
",
