The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil\nLahadaria, has ensured that the coal supply for steam power plants\n(PLTU) owned by PT PLN (Persero) is in a secure condition.<\/p>\n
According to Bahlil, the government has intervened to resolve\nconstraints regarding the supply of medium-calorific coal, which had\npreviously been a concern for PLN.<\/p>\n
He detailed that PLN\u2019s coal requirement reaches approximately 154\nmillion tonnes per year. Meanwhile, the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO)\nfor coal supply assigned by the Ministry of ESDM to mining companies\nreaches approximately 180 to 190 million tonnes per year.<\/p>\n
\u201cPLN has already contracted 134 million tonnes. In reality, the\ncontract between PLN and entrepreneurs is for 134 million for one year.\nWe are only in June, so there should be no issue,\u201d said Bahlil following\na meeting at the Palace with President Prabowo Subianto, as reported on\nTuesday (23\/06\/2026).<\/p>\n
Bahlil revealed that the issue that had emerged was not actually\nrelated to the total volume of supply, but rather the availability of\nmedium-calorific coal required by PLN for the blending process of power\nplant fuel.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt turns out that what PLN was complaining about, or what PLN\nrequested, was medium-calorific coal for blending. We have now ensured\nthat there are no more problems, and the government has assisted PLN in\nmaintaining operations,\u201d Bahlil stated.<\/p>\n
