        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM)\nBahlil Lahadalia is pushing for the strengthening of cross-border ASEAN\nelectricity infrastructure development at the BIMP-EAGA\n(Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area) Leaders\u2019\nSummit in the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis meeting is an initiative for subregional economic cooperation\nestablished in 1994 to promote development in the 3T areas for the four\nmember countries,\u201d Bahlil said in his official statement confirmed by\nANTARA in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Bahlil, who accompanied Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the\nmeeting, emphasised that regional energy infrastructure development must\ndeliver tangible impacts for communities in underdeveloped, frontier,\nand outermost (3T) areas.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bahlil, subregional cooperation should not only focus on\ninter-country connectivity but also ensure equitable, reliable, and\naffordable electricity access reaching the most remote areas.<\/p>\n<p>Bahlil stated that the BIMP-EAGA forum provides a crucial opportunity\nfor Indonesia to strengthen synergies in cross-regional electricity\ndevelopment, particularly through energy interconnection projects, rural\nelectrification, and the development of new renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p>These efforts are deemed essential to provide better energy access to\ncommunities in border areas and remote islands, thereby driving local\neconomic growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis synergy will strengthen collaboration so that communities in\nremote areas can access affordable energy for improved welfare,\u201d Bahlil\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Through this active participation, the Ministry of ESDM is optimistic\nthat the foundation of cooperation among the four countries will become\nmore robust to synergise in building energy infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, it is hoped not only to secure each country\u2019s supply chains but\nalso to accelerate Southeast Asia as a resilient and sustainable\neconomic growth axis.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, in his speech at\nthe summit, affirmed that BIMP-EAGA must continue to develop to more\nconcretely address the needs of communities in the region.<\/p>\n<p>According to the President, this subregional cooperation must become\nmore adaptive, impactful, and responsive to constantly changing global\ndynamics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith that spirit, BIMP-EAGA must continue to develop.
