The Badung Regency Government will comprehensively revitalise the
Kuta area starting this year. This beautification project will focus on
the area’s aesthetics through the widening of pedestrian paths and the
relocation of utility cables underground. In addition, the Badung
Regency Government is designing electric bike lanes.

“We will make the aesthetics of this area as beautiful as possible.
The pedestrian paths will be widened to approximately 4 metres, equipped
with gardens and green landscapes to create a comfortable atmosphere
suitable as a tourist destination,” said Badung Regent I Wayan Adi
Arnawa on Friday (8/5/2026).

This step is taken to address traffic congestion problems due to
narrow road widths and rampant illegal parking. The Badung Regency
Government is preparing centralised parking pockets so that all main
roads in the Kuta area are free from vehicles parked on the
roadside.

“I have instructed the Secretary to prepare the parking pockets.
After that, we will implement a no-parking zone along these roads,”
added Adi Arnawa.

As a mobility solution within the area, the Badung Regency Government
will introduce an electric-powered public transport system with
dedicated lanes. This scheme is designed so that tourists can still
comfortably reach various points in Kuta.

“There will be dedicated lanes for electric public transport,
possibly marked with certain colours. So, both the public and tourists
can enjoy the Kuta area more comfortably,” he added.

The Badung Regency Government is also addressing abrasion in the
coastal area, which is being handled jointly with the central government
through the construction of breakwaters. Badung itself has allocated a
budget of Rp 250 billion for abrasion control from the Tuban, Kuta, and
Canggu coastlines.

“After the breakwaters are completed and the sand is re-arranged, the
beach will be wider and more comfortable. After that, we will design
coastal pedestrian paths from Tuban to Canggu with a width of up to
about 8 metres, divided into jogging tracks and electric bike lanes,”
revealed Adi Arnawa.

The pedestrian paths along the beach are designed to be modern with a
digital-based transport system. This beautification is carried out in
stages, strengthening coordination with adat villages so that the vision
of restoring Kuta’s glory as a world tourism icon can be achieved.

“Later, tourists and the public can enjoy the coastal area with a
modern digital-based transport system. We want to bring back Kuta as it
was before, as an icon of tourism, tourism, and surfing that is the
pride of Bali,” he concluded.
",
