Bad weather halts chopper salvage<\/p>\n
SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: Rescue workers found on Thursday
\nthe wreckage of a helicopter that crashed off the coast on
\nSaturday.<\/p>\n
Bad weather made any attempt to salvage the wreckage
\nimpossible.<\/p>\n
The head of Sepinggan Airport, Kuntadi Budianto, told Antara
\nthe joint rescue team from the East Kalimantan coast guard and
\nAir Force, mobile brigade unit and Bontang subdistrict
\nadministration would have to wait for tides and strong winds to
\nabate before starting their work.<\/p>\n
Kuntadi said the bodies of six passengers listed as missing
\ncould be trapped inside the Bell helicopter.<\/p>\n
He said the rescue team would use a number of ships to raise
\nthe chopper, which is 70 meters under the sea.<\/p>\n
The helicopter, chartered by Unocal oil company, crashed after
\nits rotor malfunctioned. It was flying from Tanjungsantan
\nsubdistrict, north of here, to Balikpapan.<\/p>\n
Five passengers were rescued, but pilot Prabowo Yuwono died in
