        "content": "<p>PT Angkutan Sungai, Danau, dan Penyeberangan (ASDP) Indonesia Ferry\u2019s\nKupang Branch in East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) has announced the\ncontinued closure of all long-distance shipping routes in the region due\nto adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFerry services to several areas in NTT remain suspended due to bad\nweather,\u201d said Ramlan Iyang, General Manager of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry\nKupang Branch, in Kupang on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, regarding the\ntemporary closure of ASDP ferry routes from Kupang to various areas in\nNTT and return journeys.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the temporary suspension follows a sailing prohibition\nissued by the Kupang Port Authority (KSOP) due to high waves.<\/p>\n<p>The closed shipping routes include the Kupang\u2013Larantuka,\nKupang\u2013Lembata, Kupang\u2013Kalabahi, and Kupang\u2013Rote services. These\nlong-distance routes pass through waters characterised by high\nwaves.<\/p>\n<p>The Kupang\u2013Hansisi (Semau Island) route remains operational, as it is\na short route not significantly affected by severe weather conditions\nsuch as high waves. \u201cFor ferry services to Hansisi and back, we assess\nweather conditions. If it is suitable for the vessel to operate, it\ndoes; otherwise, it is suspended,\u201d Iyang said.<\/p>\n<p>The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Tenau\nMaritime Meteorology Station has issued an early warning of high waves\nin NTT waters. Wave heights of between 2.5 and 4 metres are forecast\nfrom Tuesday, 10 March to Friday, 13 March this week.<\/p>\n<p>Consequently, ship operators have been urged not to sail and to\nanticipate potential accidents during maritime operations. Waves of 2.5\nto 4 metres are expected in the western Sumba Strait, the Sawu Sea, and\nsouthern Sumba waters.<\/p>",
