        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2013 A baby who was allegedly abandoned by an elder sibling in\nPejaten Barat, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, has been taken to a Child\nWelfare Home in Cipayung, East Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The head of the South Jakarta City Social Service Office, Bernard\nTambunan, said the baby is eligible for adoption. Prospective adoptive\nparents can submit an application to Panti Sosial Asuhan Anak Tunas\nBangsa.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Those interested should first visit the home, then fill out the\nadministrative clearance and application forms, and so on,\u2019 Bernard said\nwhen contacted on Thursday, 5 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The procedure is at the home as well, of course through a court\nhearing. The children\u2019s home staff will explain because there are many\nsteps involved,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier reports showed a baby wrapped in blue clothing and a blue\nbaby blanket was found inside a black plastic shopping bag in a nasi\nuduk cart at the end of a narrow alley on Jalan Pejaten Raya, Pasar\nMinggu, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the baby\u2019s cries were heard by a resident named Dinda (20)\nwho was on the second floor of her house. She searched for the source\nand found a shopping bag containing the baby and its belongings.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The witness checked inside the shopping bag and saw a baby girl\nlying on her side, wearing a blue teddy bear-print outfit and wrapped in\na baby blanket,\u2019 said Pasar Minggu Police Chief, Kompol Anggiat\nSinambela, in a statement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the baby were infant formula in a red-topped carton, wet\nwipes, blue gloves, and a note.<\/p>\n<p>The letter is believed to have been written by the baby\u2019s elder\nsibling, identified as Z (12). In the note, Z wrote that their mother\nhad died.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Assalamualaikum, Sir\/Madam who found my younger sister, I, Zidan,\nwould like to ask you to care for my younger sister, because my mother\ndied during childbirth; please treat her as your own child, because I\nwill not be able to find or visit her again; I do not want her future to\nbe like mine. Thank you,\u2019 the letter reads.<\/p>",
