Ba'asyir to get air-con, comfy cell<\/p>\n

Abu Bakar Ba'asyir, who is currently being detained at National
\nPolice Headquarters, will be moved to a freshly renovated,
\nair-conditioned cell at Jakarta Police Headquarters.<\/p>\n
\"We will move Ba'asyir some time this week,\" National Police
\nspokesman Insp. Gen. Paiman said on Thursday. \"We want to provide
\na better place for him as a senior citizen.\"<\/p>\n
City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Prasetyo substantiated
\nPaiman's statement, saying the city police were ready to receive
\nBa'asyir as a detainee.<\/p>\n
\"We will treat him just the same as the other prisoners.
\nThere will be no special treatment. But we will give him a
\nprivate cell,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Sources at the city police said that Ba'asyir and other
\nsuspects related to terrorism would be detained at a separate
\nlocation from \"common\" criminals.<\/p>\n
Ba'asyir was detained minutes after his release from prison
\nafter serving time for document forgery and immigration
\nviolations. He is now charged with involvement in terrorist
\nactivities.<\/p>\n
Last week, the police moved their detective reserves unit from
\nthe building behind the existing prison to another location.<\/p>\n
The old location, which stands on 100 square meters of land,
\nis being converted into a detention center for Ba'asyir.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, while workers were still busy at the site,
\nconstruction of the new detention center was near completion.<\/p>\n
The new center comprises a living room, a dining room and a
\nstudy with two computer desks, as well as five large bedrooms --
\nincluding one main bedroom with an en suite. The smallest room
\nmeasures 12 square meters. All bedrooms are furnished with air
\nconditioners and new spring beds.<\/p>\n
The windows of the building are covered with iron bars and the
\nglass painted white. A four-meter-high wire fence surrounds the
\nbuilding.<\/p>",
