Ba'asyir moved to Salemba prison<\/p>\n

Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Ba'asyir, who is awaiting trial for
\ntreason, was transferred from the National Police detention
\ncenter to Salemba detention center in Central Jakarta on Friday
\nunder the escort of at least 60 police officers.<\/p>\n
The transfer was made after the Central Jakarta District Court
\ngranted a request by his team of lawyers, led by Mahendradatta,
\nwho complained that his cell at the police headquarters was too
\ncrowded.<\/p>\n
Ba'asyir was staying in the same block as women detainees, and
\nshared a bathroom with them, the lawyers said.<\/p>\n
The lawyers also complained that they found it difficult to
\nmeet their client owing to the many restrictions set by the
\npolice.<\/p>\n
During the transfer, Ba'asyir was accompanied by Mahendradatta
\nand prosecutors Ramdanu and Hasan Madani.<\/p>\n
Ba'asyir, who is also the leader of the radical Indonesian
\nMujahidin Council (MMI), is being tried on charges of treason and
\nviolating the Immigration Law.<\/p>\n
Police also allege that Ba'asyir is the spiritual leader of
\nJamaah Islamiyah, which is thought to be the Southeast Asian cell
\nof al-Qaeda terrorist network. Jamaah Islamiyah is believed to be
\nbehind the Bali bombings that killed 202 people, mostly
\nforeigners.<\/p>",
