I am concerned about conditions in our education system,
\nspecifically in one particular school in Sunter Podomoro, North
\nJakarta. It is no longer a secret that teachers there are
\naccepting bribes from parents. I have become used to this
\nsituation and even witnessed some cases which give substance to
\nthe advice: pay money to the teachers and they will pay attention
\nto your children.<\/p>\n
Some of my relatives with children in that particular school
\nalso engage in such practices, just so that their children will
\nbe given the proper attention by their teachers.<\/p>\n
Teachers should be conscious of their duties and
\nresponsibilities in educating their students. They should also
\nperform their tasks to the best of their abilities so the goals
\nof education can be achieved by the students. They should not
\nregard those duties as a burden or a reward to be presented to
\nthe privileged few.<\/p>\n
I fear of what may happen to our education system if such
\nconditions are allowed to continue.<\/p>\n
