Jakarta — Traces of the perpetrator who threw acid at Andrie Yunus,
deputy coordinator of KontraS, are beginning to surface. However, to
date, firm action from law enforcement officials remains awaited.

Police are mapping the perpetrators’ movements using closed-circuit
television (CCTV) footage. From the analysis results, the number of
perpetrators is suspected to be not just two persons, but four
individuals involved from the planning through to the execution.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Regional
Police, Brigadier General Iman Imanudin, stated that from the available
recordings, only one person poured the liquid suspected to be acid.

To uncover this case, police analysed at least 2,610 CCTV recordings
with a total duration reaching 10,320 minutes.

The recordings came from 86 cameras spread across several locations,
ranging from electronic traffic enforcement cameras (ETLE) belonging to
the DKI Jakarta Communications and Information Office, the
Transportation Office, to cameras owned by residents and office
buildings.

“Therefore, we require considerable time over these coming days to
conduct digital analysis of the CCTV video recordings that exist along
the entire route traversed by the perpetrators,” said Iman.

From the analysis results, the perpetrators are suspected to have
followed the victim since he was at the office of the Indonesian Legal
Aid Foundation (YLBHI) on Thursday afternoon (12 March 2026).

Four perpetrators were seen gathering around Gambir Station, then
moving towards the Cikini area and waiting for the victim.

“Based on analysis of CCTV recordings from several locations in the
Jakarta area, the suspected perpetrators were observed following the
victim’s movements prior to the incident,” said Iman.

When the victim stopped to refuel at a petrol station in Cikini, the
perpetrators were seen waiting in the vicinity. They then continued
following until Jalan Salemba I, where the acid pouring took place.

“Subsequently, after the incident, they departed on two motorcycles,
each at speeds or with behaviour more pronounced than previously
observed,” said Iman.

The perpetrators then scattered in several directions. One vehicle
headed towards the Senen area through South Jakarta, whilst another
moved towards East Jakarta.

From telecommunications network tracing, the perpetrators are
suspected to have moved to several areas such as Kalibata, Pancoran,
Ragunan, Pasar Minggu, and as far as Bogor in West Java.
",
