Autopsy proves girl died of drug overdose<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A forensic expert at the Cipto Mangunkusumo
\nGeneral Hospital confirmed on Saturday that the 26-year-old girl
\nfound dead at the Atlanta discotheque in West Jakarta on Friday
\nhad overdosed.<\/p>\n
\"It seems that her death was caused by an overdose of ecstasy
\npills,\" doctor Mun'im Idries, from the state-owned hospital, told
\nThe Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
But a more in-depth examination is needed to find the chemical
\nsubstance which killed her, he said.<\/p>\n
He said the post mortem of Soraya Faradiba, who was found dead
\nwith her mouth foaming, was done at the hospital on Friday night.<\/p>\n
\"The conclusion is that she died purely because of an overdose
\nof drugs,\" he said.<\/p>\n
According to police, Soraya's death was reported over eight
\nhours after the girl fell unconsciously from her seat at the
\ndiscotheque.<\/p>\n
Head of the Tamansari police detectives, First Lieutenant
\nKumbul KS, said the report of her death came from medical staff
\nof the nearby Husada hospital.<\/p>\n
\"It was not from the discotheque's operators,\" Kumbul said.<\/p>\n
It is unknown if the police will summon the disco's operators
\nfor questioning.<\/p>\n
So far only one man has been interrogated. The man, whose name
\nhas been withheld, is a resident of Bekasi and is believed to be
\nSoraya's partner.<\/p>\n
During police questioning, the man said he had no idea what
\nhad caused her to fall from her seat.<\/p>\n
\"I was heavily drunk at the time and I thought she was also
\ndrunk,\" he said.<\/p>\n
According to available records, at least four people in
\nJakarta have died because of Ecstasy in recent months. The
\ndeceased, including a police sergeant, were all found dead at
\ndiscos with their mouths foaming.<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old, chief sergeant Indra Jauhari was found dead
\nat the Zodiac discotheque also in West Jakarta.<\/p>\n
His post mortem revealed that he died after consuming at least
\nsix ecstasy pills.<\/p>\n
Officer Kumbul said the ecstasy pills consumed by most of the
\nvictims were locally made and had been mixed with other powders
\nby dealers looking to increase their margins.<\/p>\n
Because the \"modified\" pills reacted slowly, the victims took
\nmore pills to get an immediate high which caused their deaths.
