Autopsy completed, Al-Ghozi buried<\/p>\n

After a one-day delay for an autopsy, the body of terrorist
\nFathur Rohman al-Ghozi was buried on Friday in his hometown of
\nMadiun.<\/p>\n
The autopsy revealed that al-Ghozi had been shot three times
\nfrom afar, forensic doctor Munim Idris said.<\/p>\n
Munim, who conducted the autopsy early Friday, said al-Ghozi
\nhad been shot twice in the chest and once in the left hand, and
\n"The characteristics of the wounds come from long-range shots,"
\nas reported by The Associated Press.<\/p>\n
However, Munim added that there was also a possibility that he
\nwas shot at close range, saying he might have worn protective
\ngear to cushion the shots.<\/p>\n
Munim, who led the autopsy at Moewardi Hospital in Surakarta,
\nsaid he did not believe al-Ghozi was fleeing when he was shot, as
\nthe bullets entered the front of his body.<\/p>\n
The autopsy was held at the request of al-Ghozi's family, who
\nsuspected that he was deliberately murdered by the Philippine
\nauthorities.<\/p>\n
After the autopsy, Rusman, the spokesman of the al-Ghozi
\nfamily, demanded that the Philippine government describe the
\nchronology of the shooting, to shed light on the truth of the
\nincident.<\/p>\n
The shoot-out put an end to the hunt for al-Ghozi, who escaped
\na Philippine prison after he was sentenced to 17 years for
\nillegal possession of explosives.<\/p>\n
Police had said earlier the autopsy performed on al-Ghozi did
\nnot count and could not be considered as evidence, as it did not
\ninvolve police investigators.<\/p>\n
Responding to allegations that al-Ghozi was murdered, foreign
\nministry spokesman Marty Natalegawa said the government was
\npaying attention to all complaints from the family.<\/p>\n
Marty said one of the main concerns voiced by the family's
\nlawyers was a rumor that no traces of gunpowder was found on the
\nbody.<\/p>\n
"However, according to the paraffin test result, traces of
\ngunpowder were found on al-Ghozi's left hand. We are not
\ndefending the Philippine government; this is the fact we have,"
\nhe said.<\/p>\n
The government, however, would forward the family's demands to
\nManila.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, hundreds of mourners attended al-Ghozi's burial in
\nMojorejo village, Madiun, some three hours' drive from the East
\nJava capital, Surabaya.<\/p>\n
The mourners included al-Ghozi's wife, Rukanah, and other
\nrelatives, neighbors and Muslim activists.<\/p>\n
The attendance of Muslim activists highlighted the funeral, as
\nthey shouted, "Allahu Akbar (Allah is great)!" while escorting
\nal-Ghozi's body to the cemetery.<\/p>\n
Separately, Coordinating Minister for Political and Security
\nAffairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono urged people to maintain a
\nbalanced perspective on the death of al-Ghozi, and warned them
\nagainst becoming carried away by their emotions and end up
\njustifying terrorism.<\/p>\n
"We need to remember that (grief and mourning) should not
\n(make us) condone what they, the people who were involved in
\nterrorist acts, have done. Let's separate (mourning from
\nterrorism)," he said on the sidelines of his visit to Denpasar,
\nBali.<\/p>",
